Cleaning the Crystal at the Castle
In preparation for the new season the magnificent crystal chandelier in the Picton Castle Drawing Room is being cleaned.
The 16 light chandelier was installed in the early 19th century and has over 1000 pieces of cut Glass on a glided bronze frame. “Our records show that is was last cleaned about 10 years ago”
How do you clean such a valuable and fragile object?
The answer is “very carefully” says Dai Evans Director of the Picton Castle Trust
The chandelier now gleams in the light and lifts the experience of visiting this beautiful and historic West Wales castle. The gardens are open all year – the castle opens to the public on April 1st
