Reviews from Past Guests
“Lovely Lodge, great garden and generally a lovely stay as always.” K Thomas Conway, February 2017
“We had a fantastic weekend staying in the Azalea lodge at Picton Castle. The accommodation was perfect for our small family break. We arrived at the lodge at 8pm on a cold Friday night to find it spotless and warm. The heating set to timer for a cosy arrival. We walked through the castle grounds on Saturday morning and were greeted by a festive Christmas market. We planned to revisit the grounds but the weather was a little difficult with a toddler. We took advantage of other local attractions during our stay With loads to do within a 20 minute drive, Folly Farm being our favourite. We are already planning a return stay as we enjoyed it so much and the accommodation was second to none.” The Jenkins Family November 2016
“Azalea Lodge provided us with the perfect break. The accommodation is clean and well equipped and the setting is absolutely fabulous. The castle and grounds are delightful and having access to them was a privilege. We will definitely return to see the grounds in all their glory in the spring.” Sue Deans, Guest, West (Azalea) Lodge, October 2016
“We had a wonderful and enjoyable stay at the lodge. It was perfect for our needs and very peaceful. The lodge was furnished well and the gardens and castle tour at Picton Castle are definitely worth a visit. Will be recommending to our family and friends and hope to be back sometime in the future!” Helen, Guest, West (Azalea) Lodge, August 2016
“We really enjoyed our stay in this simple, comfortable cottage for 2. Good location with easy access to eg St David’s and Tenby. Having free access to the beautiful grounds of Picton Castle, including out of hours, was a real bonus. Maria’s courtyard restaurant in the ground was another bonus, to eat in and takeaway. Would love to go again. I’m sure the gardens would be wonderful whatever time of year the visit.” Anita Filer, Guest, East (Magnolia) Lodge, July 2016
“We had a very pleasant stay and thoroughly enjoyed using the grounds with our dog. The gardens and grounds are spectacular, and we found the restaurant food excellent. The location provides an excellent base for touring Pembrokeshire.” T Davies, Guest, West (Azalea) Lodge, July 2016
“A jewel of a lodge in a wonderful setting. Well placed for visiting a wide range of interesting places if you are keen on castles, beaches and peaceful scenery.” Kath Osborn, Guest, East (Magnolia) Lodge, July 2016
“Magnolia Lodge was cosy, quirky, and well-equipped. I particularly enjoyed sitting in the garden and listening to the bird song. In the evening we wandered up the winding drive towards the castle, tempted off the path to follow the ‘Bluebell’ and ‘Peep In’ walks. The walled garden in the castle grounds is absolutely magical. We had wonderful sunshine all weekend, which always helps. A lovely place to ‘leave it all behind’ and enjoy some peace.” Helen Page, Guest, East (Magnolia) Lodge, June 2016
“We had a wonderful time at Magnolia lodge which was spotless and very comfortable and cosy. We took our 1 year old who slept in a travel cot and really enjoyed the large garden. The after hours access to Picton Castle grounds was a real privilege and we had fantastic food at the welcoming onsite ‘Maria’s’ café. I’d highly recommend a break at Magnolia lodge.” Lucy Hoggins, Guest, East (Magnolia Lodge), May 2016
“one of the most enchanting places I have ever stayed (and I’ve stayed in quite a few), compact accommodation with the most a m a z i n g garden – the acreage that is Picton after it closes! will definitely be booking there again” Guest, East (Magnolia) Lodge, May 2016
“Another fab break. A really sweet lodge in a lovely setting. Recommendations – a peaceful evening stroll in the beautiful grounds; an excellent lunch at Maria’s cafe in the Courtyard; a fascinating castle tour (and it’s free!)” Guest, July 2015
“We have stayed at this lovely lodge several times, with our dog and baby. Though compact, it’s quirky and comfortable. What really makes it delightful though, and the reason we’ve returned, is the access to Picton Castle Gardens after they have closed to the public. The walled garden is stunning and sitting on the grass on a summer’s evening, sipping a ginger beer, can’t be beaten, plus we were lucky that the resident robin joined us each afternoon, much to the delight of my toddler son! The play area for children is also great, and the rest of the grounds are beautiful. We will be back!” Guest, August 2015
What did I like about Azalea Lodge? It was spotlessly clean, smelt beautiful, was cosy and was well appointed. Very good size kitchen with quality fittings and crockery. Comfy beds had white covers and there were white fluffy towels in the bathroom. Plenty of hot water, a good size dining table and there was even a washing machine! The lounge was adequate in size but the easy chairs were rather size and comfort challenging! So, the accomodation was delightful, but the park and castle were more than a match! I love the grounds, at any time of the year and of course, Maria’s was a fantastic bonus. Picton castle lodges will always be a favourite of mine.” Guest, West (Azalea) Lodge, May 2016
“A lovely peaceful cottage for a few days in glorious Pembrokeshire. It was a real delight to wander around the beautiful grounds of Picton Castle in the evening and pretend that I was the lady of the estate! The gardens are gorgeous. Altogether a great place to stay.” Guest, East (Magnolia) Lodge, April 2016
“We had a really enjoyable stay at Azalea Lodge. The accommodation was perfect, cosy and comfortable with everything there we needed. Picton Castle didn’t disappoint and the gardens are really beautiful. There is so much to do in the area that I am sure we will make a return visit, sooner rather than later I hope. I can certainly recommend a visit.” Guest, West (Azalea Lodge), April 2016
