The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacons

In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service. In the UK there is a long and unbroken tradition of celebrating Royal Jubilees, Weddings and Coronations with the lighting of the beacons, in all kinds of locations, from cathedral towers to cliff tops to village greens.

This year, more than 1,500 beacons will be lit throughout the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK overseas Territories, and one in each of the capital cities of the Commonwealth countries in recognition of The Queen’s long and selfless service.

The Picton Castle Trust is delighted to be taking part in this long-standing tradition, and on Thursday 2nd June at 9.45pm, we will be lighting our own beacon here in the grounds. Our beacon will take the form of a bonfire, and will be visible from the castle forecourt.

The site will be open from 7pm, and those that wish to attend must follow the link below to fill in a registration of interest form.

If you are successful with your registration you will receive an email confirming your place.

Entry to the event is free, but unfortunately due to the nature of the event, spaces are extremely limited.

Food and drink will be available to purchase, provided by Maria’s courtyard restaurant. The gardens will be open for you to explore and Pembrokeshire Attractions will be here with a small fairground.

If you have any difficulties registering, please call 01437 751326.
