Lovely grounds beautiful gardens Would recommend taking a picnic as the café was limited and expensive . All volunteers were friendly and helpful 🙂 Jan Harvey (Harvey Jones)2025-09-24Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Have been to many NT/RHS and other places, but Picton was way up there with the best! The castle/house had a great feel to it, you could almost live there, very homely. Garden was very well kept and we liked the general layout and especially the herb beds. Restaurant food very good as well Just wish it was closer for us to revisit! Went on a rainy day, beautiful gardens which we saw in between showers, several places to shelter from the rain, fun jungle walk. Nice cafe and also a cheaper coffee machine in the building opposite the cafe. Rob Cox2025-09-16Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great place. House and gardens are currently being restored to their former glory. Very good cafe on site serving Spanish food but it gets very busy. Helen OKane2025-09-09Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Beautiful garden, tasty lunch but miserable older staff which is why I dropped one star. The student age group delivering food, very engaging. John Matchett2025-09-08Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A really lovely place to visit. The castle has a very homely feel, unlike some stately homes. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. There's a good tea shop and the gardens just go on and on. The plants are all in great condition, so if you are a garden fan or enjoy photographing interesting specimen plants, then this is a perfect place to go. You'll need at least 2-3 hours but could easily enjoy 4-5. There are both formal and informal planted areas - plus a woodland walk we didn't have time for. There's a maze plus a wild board-walk and structures to keep kids amused. Tickets are reasonable and valid for a few days if you're in the area.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
