Enjoy an Art Course within the peace and tranquility of Picton Castle and its beautiful Gardens. We offer something for artists of all abilities, including those of you who haven’t painted since school, or never picked up a paint brush!

Art Classes Wales at Picton Castle Studios are offering Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire residents the opportunity to join our “Local Art Club”. It’s free to join and we offer art classes on a weekly basis including “Painting for Pleasure” with a tutor available for guidance.

We are delighted to announce our new Bachelor Wing studio is now open for students. The studios are part of the old Bachelor Wing of Picton Castle and were originally used by Hanning Philipps, an accomplished artist who painted with Edward Seago in Africa during the Second World War. The renovations of the studios are sponsored by Nicky Philipps the celebrated Royal Portrait Artist whose ancestral home was at Picton Castle.

Further information about forthcoming classes are detailed in the Events section of this website

What Pembrokeshire Has To Offer the Artist

Stunning land and seascapes, ever-changing seas, windswept trees, rugged cliffs, and crystal-clear light that inspires and tests the most talented of painters.  Pembrokeshire is a land of great magic, that has attracted artists for centuries. If you are visiting the area and looking for accommodation we can help you find the perfect place. We also have our own holiday lodges on the Estate.

“This was my first attempt at oils! Our class is lots of fun and Mark is an excellent tutor”

“I was pleased that I had joined the Foundation course – I’ve always believed I had some talent but had had no formal instruction since ‘O’ level. I gained in confidence and understand that I must learn to ‘walk before I run’ – I will hopefully be able to continue to Foundation Drawing II.”

“Our tutor, Mark Hinchcliffe, was able to give us a valuable amount of individual attention and as a result, we were able to develop in different ways that were tailored to our requirements. Thank you Mark for being insightful, supportive and kind.”
