“Breathing the Fresh Air”

As a painter, being able to celebrate magical spaces and moments provides a great source of joy. Responding to nature and outdoor life is key to this exhibition, there are details of butterfly wings, expanses of coastal vistas and impressions of wild flowers. Weather and light are always fundamental components to capture. A continuing fascination with how to treat edges in the landscape is present. Experimenting with the application of paint with palette knives, brushes, layering and making use of batik has added drama and emotion to the paintings. Metallic paint gives extra shimmer to some pictures. It’s always good to take a deep breath and think for a while!

Exhibition in the Studio Gallery throughout June.
