Exhibition at Picton throughout October and November 2020
By Kate Kelly
The exhibition considers the striking coast, woodland pockets and magical places in this corner of West Wales. Titled “Hiraeth” – the work is a collective expression of the bond with my adopted home in Pembrokeshire and the longing I feel when I am absent.
When I start a series of works I like to set myself a challenge – whether it be exploring the use of different media, such as incorporating artist “gold-leaf”, or playing with an idea – for example “how to use an edge?” I believe as an artist I should take risks and work with the unexpected. I adore applying paint in various ways. In this exhibition you will be able to see thick strokes of a palette knife and delicate refined brush marks. Considering the application of media allows me to add emotion, movement and atmosphere to my land and seascapes.
