Welsh Owl Garden Wednesdays
Wonderful Wednesday…. What a lovely day it was too, with the Welsh Owl Garden open @ Picton. The sun shone, but we stayed cool in the shade of the beautiful woodland, getting close to fluffy baby owls and the gorgeous Tyto, an Ashy Faced Owl… Lovely to see Rosie’s skill and passion with the birds.
As well as being able to wander among the aviaries, there will be different birds “featured” each week. Check out their Facebook page to keep up with events: “The Welsh Owl Garden” .
Open every Wednesday from 10am during August
Based in a beautiful location. The owners of the birds clearly see them as part of the family and share funny stories about them as well as interesting facts. Today we got to interact with some cute fluffy baby owls and see some older owls flying. My 6 year old loves it so much we had to promise him a return trip to get him to leave! An experience not to be missed.” (Tripadvisor. July 2019)
Fantastic setting to see the birds. Staff are wonderful and exceptionally knowledgeable sharing stories and and see that the birds are well loved. Nothing is too much trouble. Definitely well worth a visit for any age. Will be going back again soon” (Tripadvisor. July 2019)
“…We went to see the owls and the area they were kept in were of a high standard and the birds looked extremely well looked after…” (Tripadvisor. July 2019)
The team behind West Wales Falconry have taken up residence at Picton Castle and are doing their usual obsessively brilliant job! You could actually spend all day here seeing the birds flying, being fed and cared-for. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable about their subject- really living and breathing it – and they have a wealth of stories about sharing their home and life with the birds and the various issues that crop up in dealing with such a specialised subject. My six year-old had seen their display at Carew only two days earlier but we still had to drag him away at the end of this day!
“…We’ll be making many more visits in the future…” (Tripadvisor. July 2019)
“ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT, can’t say anymore, not to be missed” (FB review. July 2019)
