Boasting one of the best plant collections in Wales, including an important collection of conifers, roses, medicinal herbs and rhododendruns – some of which are unique to Picton – the Estate is also horticulturally important in terms of garden design, with every season offering the visitor a new delight.  To find out what plants to look out for when you visit, see our Monthly Garden pages compiled by our Head Gardener.

Picton Castle Woodland Walk

Soak up the special magic as you stroll beneath some of the largest and oldest trees in West Wales and discover woodland walks with their abundance of wild flowers blended with ferns and unusual woodland shrubs from all over the world. Unique to Picton are the Rhododendrons raised over the years by our own head gardeners and include rare species including Myrtles, Embrothium and Eucryphia.

The Walled Garden

The Walled Garden is an enchanting riot of colour in the summer months with its elegant fountain, rose strewn arches and medicinal herbs all meticulously labelled with their remedies. Seek out the door that leads to the fernery, a tranquil and fascinating habitat for less hardy fern species.
